Instructions

​

​Step 1: Join Schoology Course for Superintendent's Honors Music Festival

  • This is where you will upload student audition videos. Join the Course first, before you are ready to record and upload, in case you encounter any issues. There are instructions for recording and uploading audition videos further down this page.

    • NOTE: Charter and private schools ​must email Matthew Sabatella to receive links to upload your audition videos - msabatella@dadeschools.net

  • To join the Schoology Course, follow these steps:

    1. Open Schoology from the Employee Portal.

    2. Click Courses on the top menu.

    3. Click My Courses near the top right corner.

    4. Under Manage Courses, click Join a Course and enter Access Code 3WX8-7Q35-N8JJQ

​Step 2: Share Audition Information with eligible students

  • Download Audition Information (under Audition Materials below) and provide it to students so they can prepare.

 

​Step 3: Register yourself as a teacher

  • Complete the Teacher Registration Form (below). Each teacher only needs to complete this once, regardless of how many students they are registering.

​

Step 4: Register each student who will audition

  • Register each student to audition using the Register Students form (under Audition Materials below) for the appropriate ensemble(s). Be sure to spell each student's name correctly on the registration form. The way you spell the names on the form is the way they will appear in the Honors program, for those students who are selected for an ensemble.

  • You can check if your registration was successful by clicking the List of Registered Students (under Audition Materials below) for the appropriate ensemble.

​Step 5: Record and upload audition videos

  • Instructions for Submitting Audition Videos on Schoology

  • Teachers or students may join the Schoology Course to record and upload videos.

    • If you plan to have students upload their own videos, please email Matthew Sabatella so you can be made an Admin and add your students to the Course.​

  • Audition videos are submitted as Assignments in the Course.

  • We strongly recommend that you record the videos in Schoology rather than recording them in advance and uploading them. There is a file size limit on uploads of 512 MB, and videos that you record outside of Schoology may be larger than this. Instructions for recording in Schoology are included in Instructions for Submitting Audition Videos on Schoology.

Please Note​

  • A student may audition for only one ensemble. 

  • You must adhere to the grade levels listed for participation at the top of each registration document.

  • Teachers must be members of Dade County Music Educators Association (DCMEA) to register students to audition.

  • If you are not sure whether you are a current DCMEA member, please email infodcmea@gmail.com.​

  • Please direct all questions about auditions to the ensemble coordinator listed below and on the Guidelines page.
