Auditions

​Instructions

​

Step 1: Join Dade County Music Educators Association (DCMEA)

  • Teachers must be members of DCMEA to register students to audition.

  • If you are not sure whether you are a current DCMEA member, please email infodcmea@gmail.com.​

  • Register for DCMEA

​

Step 2: Register yourself as a teacher

  • Complete the Teacher Registration Form. Each teacher only needs to complete this once, regardless of how many students are auditioning.

  • If you don't remember whether or not you already registered as a teacher, you can check the List of Registered Teachers.

  • Teachers must be present at all in-person auditions, as well as rehearsals and concerts that include their students.

  • Teachers must complete field trip forms for their students to participate in rehearsals, concerts, and in-person auditions.

​Step 3: Review Audition Information

  • Some ensembles are having auditions in person at a designated time, date, and location, and some ensembles are having auditions via uploaded video. Read the Audition Information (under Audition Materials below) for each ensemble.

​Step 4: Share Audition Information with eligible students

  • Download Audition Information (under Audition Materials below) and provide it to students so they can prepare.

​

​Step 5: Register students in advance ONLY FOR ENSEMBLES WITH IN-PERSON AUDITIONS

  • For ensembles with video auditions, you do not need to register students in advance. When you are ready to submit student audition videos, the upload forms will collect the necessary information.

  • Be sure to spell each student's name correctly. The way you spell the names on the form is the way they will appear in the Honors program, for those students who are selected for an ensemble.

  • You can check if your registration was successful by clicking the List of Registered Students (under Audition Materials below) for the appropriate ensemble.​

​Step 6: Record and upload audition videos ONLY FOR ENSEMBLES WITH VIDEO AUDITIONS​

  • ​For ensembles with video auditions, you do not need to register students in advance. When you are ready to submit student audition videos, the upload forms will collect the necessary information.

  • See Audition Information (under Audition Materials below) for submission deadlines and upload links.

  • Follow the instructions on the Audition Information carefully to record and upload your videos.

  • Be sure to spell each student's name correctly. The way you spell the names on the form is the way they will appear in the Honors program, for those students who are selected for an ensemble.

Please Note​

  • A student may audition for only one ensemble. 

  • You must adhere to the grade levels listed for participation at the top of each registration document.

  • Teachers must be members of Dade County Music Educators Association (DCMEA) to register students to audition.

  • If you are not sure whether you are a current DCMEA member, please email infodcmea@gmail.com.​
